The harmful effects of UV rays on our eyes are well-known. They can cause temporary discomfort: glare, blurred vision and inflammation, etc.. But, in the long run, they are responsible for irreversible damage, as they contribute to the premature aging of the eye and development of cataracts. For better protection against UV rays, we propose you to wear quality sunglasses or our Essilor solutions; Acclimates® or Transitions® adaptive lenses or or Xperio® polarized lenses.
Blue light is beneficial for health, in regulating our biological clock. But part of the blue light spectrum, the ‘blue-violet’ light is harmful to the eye. Emitted naturally by the sun, these rays are also emitted by our televisions, computer screens, tablets, mobile phones and games consoles… Children and people aged over 45 are most susceptible to its harmful effects. There are specific new lenses with the technical characteristics to filter part of this blue-violet light. We recommend the Crizal® Prevencia® preventive lenses which offer a complete protection against harmful effects of blue-violet light.
